MEM Students:
Welcome back to UW for the Spring 2019 semester. I have to smile as I say Spring, when here in Madison today we are in the midst of the third snowstorm in a little over a week, and temperatures predicted to plummet to -60 F windchill!
I’d like to send a little encouragement to get off to a strong start and maintain a consistent, healthy pace to your work. That’s the best way to get the most learning from each course and prevent an overload as the semester progresses.
I’m seeing lots of good ideas as many of you post proposed projects for several of your courses. MEM alumni frequently tell me how the projects they selected and performed had major impacts in their learning and in creating new career opportunities as their colleagues and supervisors observed students’ initiative, expertise, and leadership in action.
You may have already that UW-Madison was selected again by U.S. News and World Report as one of the top universities in the U.S. for online graduate engineering programs. If you have any colleagues who you think would be interested in engineering management studies, please do share your experiences and encourage them to consider UW-Madison MEM. We are currently accepting applications for the cohort that will begin studies in June 2019.
Also, please join me in welcoming the following new students who are launching their MEM studies this semester.
- Jaclyn Buffo; CITGO Petroleum, Operations Process Engineer, Lemont, IL
- Matt Dehart; US Navy Submarine Warfare Analyst, Washington, DC
- Kelly Kessler; Crenlo, Design Engineer, Rochester, MN
- Craig Krueger; Seats Incorporated, Purchasing and Compliance Engineer, Reedsburg, WI
Let’s help these new students experience a warm welcome and expressions of support from fellow MEM students.
As always, please do let me or Shainah know of any ways we can assist you. If your travels bring you to campus please do let us know. It’s always good to catch up face to face.
Committed to your success,
Wayne
