Colleagues:
Hello. I am getting in touch to offer a few tips and reminders as you prepare to visit Madison and UW for Residency.
· For those traveling by air: The Dane County Airport is only about 15 minutes away. If you are staying on campus (e.g., Lowell Center) you will not need a car during Residency. Taxi/Uber from and to the airport will work well.
· On Sunday evening, all are welcome to an informal welcome time, to be held at Smitty’s Study Pub, at the 8th floor of the Fluno Center. We’ll have some appetizers, a cash bar, and an informal time of meeting and catching up with each other.
· Recommended dress code for the week is business informal. In addition, we recommend you bring clothing you would like to wear for individual photos we will be taking immediately following lunch on Tuesday. These photos will be used as part of a printed program we share with attendees at MEM graduation. Recommended dress for these photos is business attire (e.g., sportcoat and tie for men).
· Please bring your laptop, which will be helpful for accessing materials online, exercises in a few sessions, and taking notes.
· Please note that the Residency information accessible from MEM Community includes links to campus maps and tourism info. These may be especially helpful to anyone traveling with you.
Please post questions you might have about Residency at MEM Community. That way everyone will benefit from the question and answer.
Looking forward to seeing you in a few days,
Wayne
P.S. For students unable to attend Residency we will be sure you have access to digital files of slides and handouts. I and fellow faculty/staff will be glad to help you with any follow-up questions you might have to ensure you are ready for the year ahead.
